Our New Children's Hospital

Manchester’s new children’s hospital will bring together the specialist services provided by Booth Hall and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospitals onto one state-of-the-art site, providing an integrated paediatric service for the whole of Greater Manchester and the North West.

This means that rather than have to visit two or more sites, patients will be able to receive all their treatment at one location. It also means doctors will not have to waste time traveling between sites and resources can be concentrated in one place, rather than duplicating services.

Designed to meet the needs of our younger patients, it will benefit from new, purpose-built facilities whilst retaining its own separate entrance and identity. We will create a child-centred environment appropriate to the needs of children.

The brand new Ronald McDonald House Manchester will provide Ronald McDonald House Manchesterparental accommodation, and be built next to the Children’s Hospital at the entrance to the hospitals’ boulevard.

With 393 beds, new wards will be a mixture of single beds and four bedded bays. The new design of the hospital will ensure that departments are adjacent to the equipment and support that they require, for example the location of Intensive Care Unit next to Operating Theatres and the location of emergency care services on the ground floor.

A complete Child Mental Health Unit containing nine beds and one parental accommodation room, will be housed in a separate area adjacent to the new hospital. Facilities will include an indoor recreation area as well as numerous consulting and interview rooms.
